What do Mormons believe about Jesus?

Help us understand what Mormons believe about Jesus Christ?

Jesus in Mormonism is actually a spirit child of God, meaning that Jesus was not eternal and Jesus was not eternally with the father but he was actually created by God in a pre-earth life. Mormons believe that God produced many spirit children of whom Jesus was the first, Lucifer or Satan was the second and then subsequently all of us were birthed as spirit children by God. Therefore we actually are also brothers of Jesus.

Jesus does not have equality with God. Jesus is not God. They consider him to be the second member of the Godhead and that he is the son of God but he is not eternal, he does not have equality with God and he himself is not God.

Of course we know that’s not what the bible teaches. John 1:1 says “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.” “And the word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:14) We have the eternal nature of God that dwells bodily in Christ, the fullness of God bodily in Jesus. (Colossians 2:9). He is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). We know that Jesus himself is eternal, that he has always been the Logos, the Word of God with God forever and so it is a very different Jesus from the Jesus that we know in the bible.
